The Eastbrook Lady Panthers basketball team won the first round of sectional 39 against the Alexandria Tigers by a score of 70-35. The girls came out strong against Alexandria and played well both offensively and defensively. The Lady Panthers were able to contain Alexandria’s two leading scorers last night on defense and were able to force Alexandria into 23 turnovers that resulted in 30 points. The Eastbrook Lady Panthers also had 20 defensive rebounds and grabbed 12 steals against the Tigers.
On the offensive end the Lady Panthers shot 63% from the field, 50% from the three point line, to help secure the win against Alexandria.
The Lady Panthers had a balanced scoring attack with four girls going for double figures last night. Abbie Gressley was the leading scorer with 17 points, Courtney Haynes was the second leading scorer with 15 just missing a double double with 9 boards. Hannah Smith added points 13, Kaley Kitts had 10 and Amanda Marrs was close to double digits with 9 points.
Great job to the Eastbrook Lady Panthers for the great win last night against Alexandria. The Eastbrook Lady Panthers next game is in the sectional semi finals versus a rival county team, Madison Grant. The game will be Friday February 5th at 7:45pm and will be held at Eastbrook High School. Come out and support your Lady Panthers in the next round of sectionals!
