The Eastbrook boys cross country team continued to bring home the hardware this season by claiming the school’s first ever Sectional championship Saturday morning at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Sectional championship comes on the heels of a Grant 4 title and the first conference championship since 1983, making this the most successful cross country season in school history.
The Panthers placed five runners in the top 14 to clinch the title over second place, Oak Hill, and third place, Marion. All seven Panthers earned career or season PRs in the Sectional race, led by Michael Neideck (5th), Eli Seward (9th) and Connor White (10th) who each broke the 17 minute barrier for the first time in their careers.
The Panthers will return to IWU next Saturday to compete in the Regional meet. The top 5 teams at Regional will advance to Semi-State.
The girls team failed to advance to the Regional meet, but did have two runners advance as individuals. Seniors Hannah Seward (26th) and Sierra Colvin (29th) both finished well enough at Sectional to qualify for the Regional on Saturday.
