The Eastbrook girls basketball team dominated county competition in route to winning their second Grant 4 championship in three years. The Panthers defeated Mississinewa 51-39 to win the title after handling Oak Hill in the first round game by a score of 56-40.
The Lady Panthers moved to 11-1 on the season behind 23 points from Brooke Saylor and 14 points from Austina Cansler in the championship game. Leading by as many as 21 points, the Lady Panthers never allowed the Indians any hope of pulling off an upset. Courtney Haynes chipped in 6 points and Kaley Kitts, Sierra Singer, Megan Cly and Abby Gressley each added two points to complete Eastbrook’s balanced attack.
The newly crowned county champions return to action this week on Tuesday night at Delta and at home on Thursday against Manchester. A photo gallery from the Grant 4 Championship will be coming soon and more pictures will be available at flickr.com/photos/eastbrookathletics.
