The boys and girls track team opened their season with victories over Southern Wells. The ladies won the meet 68-55.
The girls team was led by Brooke Saylor and Sierra Singer who each notched three victories. Saylor won both hurdle events and ran a leg of the 4 x 100m relay. She also had a second place in the long jump. Singer won the the 100m and 200m dash as well as a leg on the 4 x 100m relay.
Double event winners include Sophie Seward and Ashley Brown. Seward won the 1600m and 3200m while Brown won both the long and high jump. Savannah Leas also took home her first varsity win with a victory in the shot put.
The boys team won their meet in convincing fashion, winning by a score of 86-37.
Jacob Singer was the only three event winner on the night with victories in the 100m, 200m and 4×100. Singer also tied the school record with a blazing 10.8 time in the 100m.
Two event winners include Zach Burton, Josh Neideck, Peyton Watson, and Brett Holder. Burton won the 110m hurdles and a leg on the 4 x 100 relay and a second place in the 200m, Neideck won the 4 x 800 and the 800m, Watson was on the 4 x 100m and won the long jump, and Holder won the 3200m and was on the winning 4 x 800m team.
Many others had solid days as well. Brandon Deshon got his first varsity win in the 400m. Collin Cramer also got a win in the 300 hurdles.
This was a great way to start the season. The Panthers will next be in action with their only home meet on Tuesday the 15th.
