Despite a big day at the dish from Luke Elliott, who finished 2-3, the Panthers lost 14-3 to Marion on Friday.

Luke put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Panthers. He doubled in the first and third innings.

Eli Foreman recorded the win for Marion. He allowed three runs over four innings. Eli struck out four, walked none and gave up four hits.

Home runs for Marion came when Xavier Aguilar homered in the third inning,Devon Sheward homered in the fifth inning, and Kenny Smith homered in the fifth inning.

Justin Reece was charged with the loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

The game’s last lead went to Marion thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on two singles.

Marion scored three runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with three more in the fourth. In the third, Marion scored on a solo home run by Xavier.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the third, the Panthers faced just a 7-3 deficit. A sacrifice fly by Andy Black set off the Panthers rally. Eli ended the inning by getting Nate Shaw to strike out.
