Thursday was a great day for Luke Elloitt, as he hit two home runs to carry the Panthers to a 12-2 victory over Muncie Burris in five innings.
The Panthers blew out Muncie Burris thanks to 13 hits, including seven extra base hits.
The Panthers hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for the Panthers came when Nate Shaw homered in the fifth inning and Luke homered in the first and fifth innings.
Kyle Martin recorded the win for the Panthers. He allowed two runs over three innings. He struck out four, walked five and surrendered two hits.
The Panthers’ Kyle, Nate, Andy Black and Luke combined for 11 hits and 10 RBIs.
Austin Applegate took the loss for Muncie Burris. He allowed 12 runs in four innings, walked four and struck out two.
The Panthers never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on a solo home run by Luke and an RBI single by Nate.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the third, Muncie Burris faced just a 3-2 deficit. A two-run single by Jonny Norris gave Muncie Burris life. Finally, Kyle got Joey McMinn to ground out to end the threat.
After a quick strike from Muncie Burris, the Panthers responded with three runs in the third. The Panthers scored on an RBI double by Nate, an RBI double byAlex Campbell, and a groundout by Josh King.
The Panthers increased their lead with six runs in the fifth. Luke started the inning with a three-run blast, plating Kyle and Grant Brown. That was followed up by Nate’s three-run home run, scoring Andy and Evan Brankle.
